FIRM PROFILE

SMA Architecture Planning Interiors is a professional design firm with varied and wide-ranging experience. 

Our work has focused on multi-family housing, custom residential projects, healthcare, and commercial development.  Much of our multi-family housing work has been done within the construct of state and local governmental programs, low income tax credit and HUD grant and mortgage insurance based financing.

From detailed programming, schematic design and project visualization through construction documents and contract administration and construction management, SMA brings a personal commitment to every project. 

Essential to our design approach is an overriding sense of professional service and care, and a fundamental understanding of process and value.  We are committed to design that serves the people who use our buildings and to a sustainable future.

Our individual and combined expertise and commitment to technology permits us to take on projects of any size or level of complexity.  As an integral part of our design process, we employ Building Information Modeling design and presentation tools to enable our clients and the project team to envision design options and promote informed decisions.

With a professional heritage that dates back to the New York City firm of Horace Ginsbern and Associates, founded in 1919, SMA looks forward our second century of service.

MANAGEMENT

Stuart Markowitz, the firm’s principal and
Kenneth Bingham, our Senior Associate, provide
direct management of each of the firm’s projects,
from design through the completion of construction.
